A: Sharp is working to identify and communicate all Year 2000 issues. Please be advised that Sharp’s current facsimile machines indicate only the last two digits (e.g. "00") of the year in which it is operating and will change from "99" to "00" in normal operation and, therefore, do not require special attention because of the turn of the century. Q: Where can I purchase an instruction manual for my fax unit? A: Call the Sharp Accessory and Supply Center at 1-800-642-2122. Q: My fax unit cannot receive an incoming fax when it is connected to an answering machine. How do I correct this?A:
2) Make sure the reception mode is set to AUTO on the fax unit.
3) The next immediate setting of QUIET DETECT TIME will appear in the screen. The setting of 04 should be used. Q: I am able to send a fax, but unable to receive a fax, how do I correct this? A: Set the fax machine to AUTO reception. Next, you would want to set the proper settings in your Option Set List. To print a list press the FUNCTION key, the number 2 key, then press the # key until it reads OPTION SET LIST in the LCD screen and press the START key. This will print your list. The following settings should be seen:
Note: If all of the above is satisfactory, refer to #6. 6) Is the machine set to answer manually? (display will read "man") If so, how many telephone devices are attached to the Phone Line? Each telephone, answering machine, computer modem or cordless phone has a REN [Ringer Equivalency Number]. This number is normally found on the FCC tag and will appear such as REN = 0.7B. Do not worry about the "B". Most Local phone companies normally provide sufficient ringer power for a REN of 5. What this means is that when the RENs of each device are added together they must be 5 or less. If the numbers are greater than 5 the machine will likely not answer. Example below Telephone 1 REN = 1.2B Telephone 2 REN = 0.8B PC Modem REN = 0.4B Answering Machine REN = 1.1B Fax machine REN = 0.9B Total REN = 4.4 With this number all devices should work properly. * Settings are only pertinent if unit is hooked with an answering machine ** Distinctive ringing will only be needed if you subscribe to the service through your local telephone company. Otherwise, the setting should be off. To change any of these settings, follow these steps:

You can purchase UX-15CR film at many office supply retailers or call (800)-642-2122 to place an order by phone. Q: My unit will not allow me to program any information, why? A: The first thing you may need to look is the imaging film has not been installed. These units need to have it installed correctly to allow you to program your unit. The next thing may be that the unit may not be plugged in. It will not allow programming if the unit has no power. Q: When I make a copy or receive a fax there are black spots on the paper? A: 1) Open the operational cover on your unit where it states PANEL RELEASE 2) Observe the reading glass and the scanner. They are located across the unit towards the front of the machine. It is behind the two rollers on the base. It is possible the glass is cracked or there maybe some packing material on the unit which may cause the dark spots or lines.
