AR-151, AR-F152, AR-153E, 153EN, AR-156, AR-157E, 157EN Developer Installation Set Up Instructions

Unpacking and Installation - Improper installation may damage the copier. Please note the following during initial installation and whenever the copier is moved. Failure to follow these instructions or operate copier prior to correctly completing these instructions voids warranty.
1) Installing conditions
    A) Copier installation - Do not install your copier in areas that are:
  • damp, humid, or very dusty
  • exposed to direct sunlight
  • poorly ventilated
  • subject to extreme temperature or humidity changes, e.g., near an are conditioner or heater
  • Be sure to allow the required space around the machine for servicing and proper ventilation.
    B) Power Source
  • Use an exclusive-use power outlet. If the power plug of this machine is inserted into a power outlet commonly used with other illumination units, flickers of the lamp will result. Use a power outlet which is not commonly with any illumination units.
  • Avoid complex wiring.
    C) Grounding the wire connection.
  • To avoid danger, be sure to connect a grounding wire. If no grounding wire is connected and leakage occurs, a fire or an electrical shock may occur.
2) Removal of protective material and fixing scanner fixing restraint.
    A) Remove all tape and protective material.
  • Remove all tapes, then open the document cover and remove the protective materials of sheet shape.
    B) Remove the fixing screw/scanner restraint.
  • (AR-150, AR-151, AR-F151, AR-F152, AR-155, AR-156) Use a coin to remove the optic fixing screw located on the upper-left-side exterior panel.
  • The fixing screw is required when transporting the machine. There is a slot to store it in the paper tray.
  • (AR-153E, AR-157E) Turn the lock/unlock indicator to the unlock position. Return to the lock position when transporting the machine.

Developer Installation - This procedure MUST be preformed BEFORE installing toner or powering on a new machine.
1) 2) 3) Open the side and front cabinets of the copier.

4) Remove the locking tape of the developer unit.

5) Loosen the blue-green phillips head screw which is fixing the copier and Developer unit.

6) Remove Developer unit slowly from the copier being careful that the green drum unit, to the right of the developer unit, remains in the copier.

Note: When handling the developer unit be careful not to bend or distort the plastic shield just above the magnetic roller.

7) Remove the screw (1 pc).

8) Remove the Upper developer unit cover.

Note: If preforming developer replacement procedure it is necessary to remove all of the old developer from the unit first including that which is magnetically adhered to the magnetic roller. Turning the screw & gear on the end of the magnetic roller CLOCKWISE to rotate the magnetic roller will aid in the removal. Use of a vacuum cleaner is necessary being careful not to scrape the roller. Simulation 20 sub-code 1 resets the maintenance required warning light and simulation 24 sub-code 6 resets the developer replacement required warning light.

9) Shake the aluminum bag to stir developer.

10) Supply developer from the aluminum bag to the top of the MX roller evenly.
Note: Be careful not to splash developer outside Developer unit. THE ENTIRE CONTENTS OF THE DEVELOPER BAG ARE REQUIRED. If necessary turn the screw on the end of the magnetic roller CLOCKWISE to allow more room. After supplying the developer into the developer cartridge, do not tilt or shake the developer cartridge.

11) Attach Upper developer unit and fix it with a screw.

12) Rotate the MG roller gear to distribute developer evenly.

Note: Never rotate the gear in the reverse direction.
Note: When carrying the Developer unit, do not tilt it extremely as shown with the arrows in the figure below.
(Prevention of splash of developer)

13) Insert Developer unit carefully into the copier.

Note: Quick insertion may result in splash of developer. Be sure to insert carefully.

14) Confirm the Developer unit is completely inserted to the bottom of the machine, fix Developer unit and the machine with a screw.

15) Insert the toner cartridge into the machine insuring that the toner cartridge in seated FIRMLY and COMPLETELY to the back of the machine. Failure to insert the toner cartridge completely may result in a clicking sound and possible failure of the toner cartridge.
Special consideration: Some toner cartridges may require the turning of the toner add sprocket to start the toner function. This sprocket is on the rear of the AR-152NT TONER cartridge. It is the larger of the gears/sprocket. It should be turned COUNTER-CLOCKWISE just enough to ensure it moves (about 1/2 inch or 1/8th turn). It may turn very hard at first and prevention should be taken for a small amount of toner that might be expelled from the bottom of the cartridge. If your copier is making a "clicking" sound when turned on and if the copier does not comes to ready with toner light blinking, try this procedure.
17) Assure that all setup procedures are correctly completed and apply power to the copier for the first time.
Note: The copier will now self-calibrate. THIS PROCESS MAY TAKE UP TO 5 MINUTES AND MUST NOT BE INTERUPTED.

18) When the green Stat Key indicater comes on steadily the copier is ready to make copies.
If preforming developer REPLACEMENT it may be necessary to reset the developer counter and the maintenance indicator.
